Clinico-pharmacological group: blocker histamine H1-receptors. Antiallergic drug.
Pharmacological action
Blocker H1-histamine receptor (long-acting). Inhibits release of histamine and leukotriene C4 from mast cells. Prevents the development and facilitates during allergic reactions. It has anti-allergic, antipruritic, protivoekssudativnym action. Decreases capillary permeability, prevents the development of edema, relieves spasms of smooth muscles.
Antiallergic effect develops after 30 minutes, reaching a peak after 8-12 h and lasts for 24 hours no effect on the CNS and non-addictive (as they do not penetrate the BBB).

Dosage regimen
Adults and children weighing over 30 kg - 10 mg 1 time per day.

Side effect
Adverse events occurred with approximately the same frequency as the application with placebo.
In adults: headache, fatigue, dry mouth, drowsiness, nausea, gastritis, allergic reactions (hives), anaphylaxis, alopecia, abnormal liver function.
Children: headache, increased nervous irritability, sedation.
Contraindications

Drug Interactions
Inhibitors of CYP3A4 (including ketoconazole, erythromycin), inhibitors of CYP3A4 and CYP2D6 (cimetidine, etc.) increase the concentration of loratadine in the blood.
Inductors microsomal oxidation (phenytoin, ethanol, barbiturates, rifampicin, fenilbutazon, tricyclic antidepressants) reduce the effectiveness.
