METHYLPREDNISOLONE ACEPONATE

Pharmacological action

SCS for outdoor use. Inhibits the function of leukocytes and tissue macrophages. The migration of leukocytes in the area of inflammation. Impair the capacity of macrophages to phagocytosis and the formation of interleukin-1. Contributes to the stabilization of lysosomal membranes, thereby reducing the concentration of proteolytic enzymes in the field of inflammation. Decreases capillary permeability due to histamine release. Inhibits activity of fibroblasts and collagen formation.

Inhibits the activity of phospholipase A 2, which leads to suppression of the synthesis of prostaglandins and leukotrienes. Suppresses the release of COX (mainly COX-2), which also helps to reduce production of prostaglandins.

Reduces the number of circulating lymphocytes (T-and B-cells), monocytes, eosinophils and basophils as a result of their displacement from the vascular bed to lymphoid tissue, suppresses the formation of antibodies.

Atseponat methylprednisolone inhibits the release of pituitary ACTH and β-lipotropina, but does not reduce the level of circulating β-endorphin. Inhibits the secretion of TSH and FSH.

With direct application to the vessels causes vasoconstrictor effect.

When external and local application of therapeutic activity due to methylprednisolone anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and antiexudative (due to vasoconstrictor effect) action.


Statement

Exogenous eczema (atopic dermatitis, neurodermatitis), contact eczema, degenerative, disgidroticheskaya eczema, and eczema in children.


Dosage regimen

External applied 1 time per day with a thin layer to the affected area, gently rubbing. Possible to use with occlusive dressing. Typically, treatment for adults is less than 12 weeks, and for children - no more than 4 weeks. During the year, possibly holding several courses of therapy.


Side effect

Prolonged use may be itching, burning sensation, erythema, vesicular rash at the site of application of ointment; rare - skin atrophy, telangiectasia, striation of the skin, acne, and in some cases - folliculitis, hypertrichosis, perioral dermatitis, allergic reactions.


Contraindications

Specific skin lesions (tuberculosis, syphilis, chickenpox), skin reactions to vaccinations, viral infections.


Cautions

Not recommended for use in the presence of rosacea on the face.

When bacterial dermatoses or dermatomycosis must simultaneously antibacterial therapy or antifungal medicines. Should not be held simultaneously physiotherapy.

With special care to use in pregnancy.

Avoid contact with eyes and use a large surface of the skin.
